About

Dr. Hayley Stulmaker earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Texas, her master's degree in counseling and development from Texas Woman's University, and her doctorate in counseling from the University of North Texas. Dr. Stulmaker is an LPC-S, a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, a Certified Child Centered Play Therapist Supervisor and Trainer, and a Certified Child Parent Relationship Therapist Supervisor and Trainer.

Dr. Stulmaker joined the faculty at Sam Houston State University for two years following her doctoral program as a research specialist. Dr. Stulmaker then became a director at FuelEd Schools, a non-profit designed to help teachers develop students' social and emotional skills in the classroom. Dr. Stulmaker oversaw their research, counseling, and professional education programming. Dr. Stulmaker taught for three years at the University of Houston, serving as the practicum and internship coordinator and briefly program director.

Dr. Stulmaker has been practicing for over 15 years in schools, community agency settings, and private practice settings. She has been in private practice full time for the most recent 5 years, specializing in anxiety across the lifespan. Dr. Stulmaker also conducts training and supervision of counseling and play therapy across the world.

Dr. Stulmaker is active in many professional organizations. Some leadership roles that she has served in are; Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling President and the American Counseling Association's Governing Council Representative. Dr. Stulmaker also enjoys serving on two editorial boards currently, Journal of Child and Adolescent Counseling and International Journal for Play Therapy. Dr. Stulmaker has published and presented on many topics related to counseling and play therapy.
