About
Dr. Greta Davis is Clinical Professor and Chair of the Department of Counseling in the Simmons School of Education and Human Development at 糖心logo入口. A counselor educator, career counselor, and executive coach, she brings more than 20 years of experience in career development, leadership development, and counselor training across higher education, private practice, organizational, and government settings.
Dr. Davis teaches graduate courses in career counseling, assessment, research methods, and statistics. As Department Chair, Dr. Davis provides leadership for a growing and thriving counseling program that is nationally recognized, regionally respected for excellence in clinical training, and fully accredited. Her leadership approach is grounded in her expertise in career development and counseling, with a focus on creating an environment in which students, faculty, and staff can grow, contribute, and thrive. Her professional interests focus on career development across the lifespan, career decision-making and transitions, leadership development, counselor training, and the use of assessment to facilitate personal and professional growth. Through her teaching, scholarship, and professional service, she is committed to helping individuals navigate career and life transitions while advancing equitable and culturally responsive practices in career development.
In addition to her academic role, Dr. Davis maintains a contract-based private practice providing career counseling, assessment, and executive coaching services. She works with professionals and organizational leaders facing complex career decisions, leadership transitions, work-life integration challenges, and other career-related concerns. As an executive coach, she partners with managers and senior leaders to identify development opportunities, strengthen leadership effectiveness, and translate insights into actionable strategies that benefit both individuals and organizations.
Dr. Davis is an experienced administrator of career, personality, and leadership assessments, including the Strong Interest Inventory®, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, CliftonStrengths®, Hogan Assessments, and a variety of 360-degree feedback instruments. She is a frequent presenter at local, state, and national conferences and has delivered numerous workshops and professional development programs on career development, assessment, leadership, and counselor education.
Dr. Davis earned her Ph.D. in Counseling, with a specialization in Career Counseling and Development, from the University of North Texas. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified Career Counselor (CCC). In recognition of her contributions to the profession, she received the Texas Career Development Association Outstanding Leadership Award in 2020 and the Advocacy and Community Service Award in 2023 for establishing and leading a statewide peer consultation group dedicated to strengthening equitable and culturally responsive career counseling practices.
